Couples Therapy

In couples therapy we'll work together on getting you on the same page about what’s going wrong in the relationship, what’s going well, and how we can make it better. We’ll work on learning how to improve conflict resolution skills, build healthy communication, nurture trust and heal emotional wounds and relationship ruptures. I have a deep respect for the diversity of relationships and aim to work with you in a way that honours your individual and relationship identity. I work with a vast array of relationships, including LGBTQ+ and non-monogamous relationships.

What can we talk about in couples therapy?

In relationships, sometimes we find it hard to talk about how we really feel. There might be things you don’t feel ready to talk about with your loved ones. Our therapy sessions will be a chance to freely explore and open up about your feelings to your partner. It’ll be a chance to get to have an external perspective on those recurring issues that have felt hopeless for so long. Whatever your reasons may be for pursuing couples therapy, it can be a great opportunity for you each to learn how to be more open and vulnerable with one another and can build closeness and connection.

How long does therapy last?

The duration of therapy can be highly variable. It all depends on the needs and aspects of your situation as well as the complexity of the issues we are working with.

The ultimate idea when it comes to therapy is to help you get to the point where you feel confident and self-sufficient.

Your therapy journey can either end once you receive your desired results, or it can transition into something you do once in a while, like a check-in to maintain and support your mental wellbeing.

The benefits of attending therapy

While it can be nerve-wracking to get started on therapy, and being in therapy is not always an easy process, attending therapy consistently can have several long-lasting benefits.

These include having consistent, personalized support for navigating difficult situations as they come, developing enhanced emotional well-being, improved relationship and communication skills, increased self-awareness and enhanced coping skills.

If you are committed to making some positive changes, therapy can be an amazing way to take back control of life and get closer to the happiest, most authentic and fulfilled version of yourself.
