Therapeutic Approaches

I use a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support you on your therapy journey.
Here are some of my favourites:

Psychologist Session

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):

The gold standard of therapeutic approaches. You learn about the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It helps you change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours to feel better and cope with life's challenges.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT):

With ACT, you learn to accept your feelings and thoughts, even the tough ones, and then choose actions that matter to you. It's about being true to yourself and making choices that lead to a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Narrative Therapy:

Narrative therapy is all about viewing your life like a story, with you as the author. As the author of your own story, we’ll work on reframing and rewriting your story.

It helps you take control of your own narrative and use your strengths to find new perspectives on aspects and themes of your life.

Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT):

SFBT is like a compass that helps you find your way to where you want to be. Instead of delving into the past and doing a deep dive into the source of problems, SFBT is about finding quick, practical solutions, using your strengths and other tools and resources to help you get your results.

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS):

With IFS, we will explore different aspects of you, kind of like characters in a TV show.

All of these parts have their own role, needs and feelings, and with IFS, you work on understanding and healing these parts so you can resolve conflicting feelings. Honouring and noticing each of these parts can be a way of achieving balance.

Person-centred Therapy (PCT):

This approach is like having a conversation with a trusted confidante. It's a warm and welcoming approach where the focus is all on you, and you’re viewed as the expert in your life.

It’s like having a guide walking alongside you on your journey - you’re in full control of your journey, but you’re certainly not alone. We’ll work together to help you find the answers that align with your own values.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT):

DBT is all about making sure you have the tools you need to handle life's challenges. It will be a combination of us working on making concrete changes in your life and helping you manage intense emotions, while also learning how to gain a sense of acceptance for the things you can't completely change.

It can be a great tool for helping you feel empowered in your life and therapeutic journey
